Family Law

Divorce, custody, property settlements, hidden assets, location of stolen children, detection of stalking and proof of income for child support are just some of the areas where investigation can assist.

The days of the old Divorce Act and the Matrimonial Causes Act have long gone. However with the abandonment of these two Acts, the need for investigative services in this field has increased and not decreased. Under the old Acts it was necessary for a spouse seeking divorce to prove infidelity, abuse, etc, on the part of the other. This sometimes brought about a perception that the investigation industry was sleazy.

Evidence of infidelity was required under those old Acts and our industry was the only body able to provide it. Happily, it is no longer a requirement under the Family Law Act to prove fault, however many other issues become important to those embroiled in matrimonial matters. It could be that peace of mind is needed in relation to the fidelity or otherwise of a partner. Custody of children is also an issue and it may be that evidence can be obtained to convince the court that you can better care for the children than your partner. The well being and safety of the children whilst in the care of the custodial or non custodial parent is a major concern. We can obtain evidence that your children are not being well cared for, nor provided with adequate supervision or harmonious surroundings. Property settlements and child maintenance are the next areas that require investigation. It could be that a matrimonial partner has hidden assets or in fact is understating income. Breaches of court orders are common and the only way to prove these breaches is through a well planned and executed investigation.

Child Support Agency
The Child Support Agency is there to help those who believe their spouse or former spouse is withholding payments as ordered or not declaring income. Lyonswood can provide evidence of proof of employment and income for you to present to your lawyers, the Child Support Agency or The Family Law Court. This evidence is collected in a lawful manner and is admissible in court.

Actual Cases

Case 1:
My husband continuously lied to me about where he was. I never knew where he was even when he was at work. It wasn't until I had Lyonswood Investigations and Forensic Group place him under surveillance that I found out about his other relationship, children and house. I was totally amazed when you provided evidence that even the furniture and the children's toys were the same. I now have a life and thanks to you, I can put this bizarre episode behind me.

Case 2:
You were right about GUT FEELINGS. I remember you said that 98% of your clients were right about their suspicions. Unfortunately, I am not one of the 2%. I will just have to pick up the pieces and move on. I would like to thank you for your compassion and counseling. I was impressed by your professionalism and the quality of your evidence. The written agreement between us gave me assurance. I will most certainly recommend you if the situation arises. (Male name withheld)

Case 3:
To think that I trusted him all these years. I feel like a fool. Anyway, the children are old enough to understand. I don't know that I could ever show them the video you obtained, perhaps in time. I feel vindicated now because he was always telling everyone that I was to blame. Although fault is not an issue in Family Law matters anymore, my integrity is intact. I never thought I would ever go to a private investigator, but I'm glad I did. Your investigators are very good at their job and they kept me up to date. Once again, thank you. Case 4:
Top marks for handling a very delicate situation professionally. When you approached me and told me that your client was a 32 year old female who alleged I was her father, my first response was to hang up. I'm now glad I didn't. After discussing things with my wife, we decided to meet Janet. I can't tell you how emotional it was. All those years wondering where she was, what she looked like and what she thought about me deserting her as I did. Lucky for me, we now see one another on a regular basis and my wife and Janet are getting along great. I really appreciated the discretion you showed towards me and the fact that you didn't reveal my whereabouts to her until I gave you approval. It's unfortunate that so many people have an opinion of private investigators based upon what they see on television. Keep up the good work.
